Cell: the electrochemical unit
A battery cell stores and releases electrical energy through electrochemical reactions. Cell manufacturing and vehicle battery assembly are different activities, even when one business undertakes both.
Module and pack: levels of integration
In a modular design, cells are grouped into modules, which are assembled into a pack. Other architectures integrate cells without conventional intermediate modules. The pack brings together electrical connections, a mechanical enclosure, monitoring and temperature-management provisions suited to the vehicle.
Why the distinction matters
A cell specification does not describe the whole vehicle battery system. Packaging, connections, cooling and control affect the integrated result. Likewise, a company identified as a battery manufacturer may produce cells, assemble packs or do both. Check the product scope before comparing companies or interpreting capacity claims.
